Falcons Resort by Melia All Suites Punta Cana is a 5-star all-inclusive resort located on beautiful Bavaro Beach in the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana is one of my favorite Caribbean destinations and a popular vacation spot for families with children of all ages. Located at the enchanting spot where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea, Punta Cana boasts turquoise waters and white sand beaches. This newly rebranded property brings “rezotainment” to the Caribbean, a blend of luxury resort amenities and exceptional entertainment. The result is endless fun and adventure, including access to Punta Cana’s new world-class theme park, Katmandu Park, the only theme park in the Caribbean. Resort Entertainment

What happens when you combine top-notch resort amenities with amazing entertainment? Resorttainment, of course! Now rolling out at Falcons Resort by Meliá, this original idea is a new experience and part of a multi-phase transformation of two existing Meliá properties: Paradisus Grand Cana and Garden Suites by Meliá. The list of exciting resorttainment activities is unique and extensive, so there’s sure to be something the whole family will love. Taking place throughout the resort and private beach area, there’s everything from family yoga (even sunset yoga on the beach), dance lessons, teddy bear workshops, movie nights, painting workshops, tennis, mini baseball, foam parties, healthy smoothie making, and more. There are also plenty of pool activities, including aqua aerobics, pool fitness, water jumping, and more. The resort entertainment continues after dark with a rotating range of activities every night, including Dominican nights, DJ sets, disco, Latin nights, roller skating nights in the Club House and rock nights.

Beyond the Suite

As I entered my luxurious swim-up suite, I was delighted to find a portrait of me painted by a talented local artist when I checked into the hotel, hanging above my comfy king-size bed. The kids will be thrilled with this treasure. The spacious suite features a dining area with separate lounge area, a smart TV, a rain shower and bathtub, and a huge private sundeck with a Jacuzzi. The rooms are decorated with modern touches, including stunning paintings and cozy pillows.

Steps away, you’ll find a sparkling pool and private, shaded cabanas. 432 suites range in size from 800 to 2,990 square feet. Connecting rooms are perfect for larger groups or extended families vacationing together. The Beyond Room Experience includes special perks such as a personal concierge, turndown service, spacious suites with luxurious amenities, and an exclusive dinner by the swim-up pool.

Great! Water park, pool and beach club

Have a blast! The Water Park is perfect for little ones and is just steps away from your room. It features multiple water attractions, including spinning water slides and splash areas. Or cool off from the Caribbean heat in the dazzling main pool, located in the heart of the hotel and lined with cozy lounge chairs, umbrellas, cabanas and palm trees. Hop on a golf cart to the Beach Club and relax while the kids play in the sand and ocean waves.

Bavaro Beach in the Dominican Republic is one of my favourite places, I could spend hours walking along the shore or reading a book under a coconut leaf cabana. The service here is first class and exceptional, the staff are friendly and helpful, just what you would expect from a Melia hotel.

Kids Camp and Spa Day

Vacationing with your kids doesn’t mean you have to spend all your time with them. You can leave them at the Habitat Club and have them watched and entertained for hours. Our fun-filled camp experience includes games, crafts, activities, an art zone to inspire your child’s inner artist, ping pong tables, cooking stations, video games, kid-sized ring lights and more, all waiting to help your kids create amazing memories.

While they make new friends from all over the world, you can slip into the Maia Signature Spa for peace, relaxation and pampering. Spa treatments combine traditional therapies with technological innovation, and the relaxing massage I received was amazing. Spend some time in the lounge sipping tea or rejuvenating with a spa water ritual.

International cuisine

Even picky eaters won’t go hungry here. Nine diverse restaurants serve a variety of delicious international cuisines, including Asian, Latin, Mediterranean and Caribbean dishes, all with local flavors and ingredients. Dining options include Tori, a delicious Asian restaurant with a sushi bar; Machu, a Peruvian restaurant that evokes the incredible charm of Machu Picchu through local cuisine; Origen buffet, serving international dishes inspired by the origins of the Taíno culture on the island of Dominica; and sports lovers can watch their favorite sporting events while cheering all night long at Rubi Rocks, which features a pool table and big screens.

As a vegan, I found plenty of options, with many restaurants having dedicated vegan menus or chefs available to prepare plant-based dishes upon request. Every morning, I started my day with an oat milk latte at Nest in the resort lobby.

Kathmandu Park

Located just steps from the resort, Kathmandu Park Punta Cana is just a short shuttle ride away. As the cornerstone of the “resort tainment” hospitality experience, families can expect non-stop fun and adventure here. Innovative rides and attractions are based on popular characters from the company’s original Kathmandu franchise. First-time visitors to Kathmandu can meet the characters upon arrival through highlight attractions and immersive storytelling experiences.

Standard room guests at Falcons Resort by Meliá receive a complimentary one-time pass to Katmandu Park, or upgrade to the Beyond Experience for a multi-day pass. The park is packed with rides and activities for all ages, including Voyage of the Fathom Wanderer, where you’ll meet the Queen of the Sea and try to protect the Cave of Life.

I found High Point Adventure a bit too scary. It’s an exhilarating outdoor ropes course that takes you through challenging obstacles, including bridges, cargo nets and see-saws, far above ground level. But I spoke to some brave kids and adults, and even a 6-year-old from my hometown of Toronto enjoyed the course. More thrilling for me was Quandagon, an indoor strength and agility workout where you crawl through tubes, spider walls and tiny rope swings to conquer the course. There are several food options and I was delighted to discover authentic vegan tacos at the Fire & Spice Grill truck.

Before returning to the resort, we visited Expedition Golf where we eagerly putted around the magical Hidden World of Mini Golf Courses while watching the beautiful Punta Cana sunset and the glow of Katmandu Park in the distance.
