Delta Air Lines plans to increase capacity to Latin America and the Caribbean by 30 percent next winter, adding more flights to popular destinations from Costa Rica to San Juan.
The airline announced Friday that it plans to operate more than 1,000 weekly flights to Latin America and the Caribbean next year, in the form of additional seasonal Saturday flights to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Guatemala, San Jose, Liberia, San Juan, Cancun, Punta Cana and Montego Bay.
All of the added routes will begin operating from Atlanta, New York, Detroit, Minneapolis and Boston on Jan. 13, 2024. These flights will include the airline’s First Class cabin, Delta Comfort+ and the airline’s Main Cabin.
With the increased frequency, Delta will now operate six daily flights from Atlanta to San Juan, three daily flights from New York to Cancun and two daily flights from Minneapolis to Punta Cana, Montego Bay and San Juan.

Delta said in a statement that the new route would “provide a key gateway for customers into the United States, offering seamless connections to 100 U.S. cities through Delta’s largest hub in Atlanta.”
Additionally, Delta will add seasonal service from Seattle to Cancun round-trip on Fridays and Saturdays starting Dec. 22.
The new service follows Delta’s plans to partner with LATAM Airlines to add more service to Colombia starting this fall, and comes just months after Delta announced plans to increase service to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean in time for the holidays this year, including adding new service between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Nassau, Bahamas.
And in December, the airline will resume service to the Caribbean island of Curacao for the first time in more than a decade.
