Frank and Stacey Cambello opened a Dominican restaurant, Punta Cana Latin Grill, in the Bottleworks on Prince Avenue in late 2019. Four years later, they plan to open a second restaurant, a steakhouse called Frank & Sons, in the Ansonboro development on Gaines School Road. They have a son, but for now he’s too young to help out at the restaurant, according to Frank.
Frank & Sons is just a few weeks away from opening. Frank says he and his wife have a Dominican background but love to cook all kinds of food at home, including steak. The restaurant will have all the “traditional” dishes like mashed potatoes, broccoli, T-bones, and lobster tails, as well as a full bar. The Ansonboro location was last home to bistro-style restaurant Craft Public House and has been vacant for some time. You can keep up with Frank & Sons on Instagram.
Bar Bruno at Five Points has expanded its hours to 11AM-7PM on Sundays, 11AM-9PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 11AM-10PM on Fridays and Saturdays. It’s also adding a new and more extensive menu. Daily frittatas, maritozzi (mini brioche rolls filled with whipped cream) and paninis will be available in limited quantities early on, but other dishes (eggplant caponata, cured mackerel with sun-dried tomatoes and capers, and a new cannellini dip) will be available all day. Wine tasting events are coming soon, and the expanded hours should make it easier for customers to shop the bar’s retail section.
