Kevin Tway hasn’t won since the 2018 Safeway Open. Wesley Bryan’s last win was at the 2017 RBC Heritage. It’s Charlie Hoffman’s first since the 2016 Valero Texas Open.
But they will have to keep waiting as Billy Horschel withdrew late in the 2024 Corales Punta Cana Championship, the second land tournament of the season.
Horschel finished with a 9-under 63 with no bogeys. His scorecard included an eagle and seven birdies, including four in a row on Nos. 2 through 5. He finished a few holes ahead of the final group, but he didn’t need to. He will have to wait a long time until his four-day total of 23-under 265 proves to be more than enough for his eighth career win.

It’s been less than two years since his last win at the 2022 Memorial, and although he has two top-10 finishes in 2024, he missed out on the FedEx Cup Playoffs last season and dropped to No. 84 in the world rankings. He was one of two FedEx Cup champions on the field in the Dominican Republic.

“To tell you the truth, things are tough right now,” Horschel said when asked how he was feeling after the win. “When I think back to where I was almost a year ago and where I am now, the signs were there.Obviously, the game has been in a very good place all year and the statistics show that. We have finally seen results in the past month.”
Missing the Masters and this week’s marquee event forced Horschel to accept a trip to Dominica.
“Listen, I mean, I haven’t competed in an opposing field event in a long time,” he said. “Depending on the situation during the game, you may have to take medicine. And I’m really glad I came here and played really well and got the win.”
“And it’s been a great week. The Punta Cana resort is incredible, the golf course is incredible, the staff, everyone involved has been great. I’ve enjoyed my time here. We’re going to end it with a win. I’m really glad I was able to do that.”
Wesley Bryan, aiming to become the second sponsor-exempt player to win this season, shot a final round 68 to take sole second place at 21 under par. Tway finished alone in third place with a score of 19 under. Hoffman and Justin Lauer tied for fourth at 18 under.
Corales Golf Course is a par 72 at 7,670 yards, making it one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour in 2024. The Tom Fazio-designed course opened in 2010. Wind is an issue most of the time, and the layout has six holes along the ocean. The final three-hole stretch is called “Devil’s Elbow.”
Horschel earned $725,000 for his win.
