While many of the PGA Tour’s biggest names will be teeing up in the 70-player field at the RBC Heritage Classic in South Carolina, there will be plenty of other golf to be played.
The Corales Puntacana Championship, the tour’s off-field event taking place this week in the Dominican Republic, gives players still climbing the PGA Tour standings a chance to make a name for themselves and win big money and FedExCup points.
Of the 132 players entering this week, only one, Nikolai Højgaardt (No. 34), is ranked in the top 50 in the world, making the competition very close.
How open is it? Well, when the favorites to win are +1400 (Alex Noren and Højgaard), the numbers suggest there is no clear favorite.
Last year’s winner, Matt Wallace, has qualified five of 10 times on the PGA Tour for 2024 and is steadily climbing the FedExCup standings.
And it’s all thanks to the huge payday he got from traveling to the Dominican Republic last year and spending a week golfing in paradise.
Let’s take a closer look at the Corales Puntcana championship odds and find out who will be next.

Corales Puntacana Championship odds, options to consider
Let’s look at Billy Horschel. To get back in the victory circle again.
It’s been a long time. Horschel’s last win was at the 2022 Memorial Tournament.
Since then, he’s struggled. After the win, he finished the year with zero top 10s and three missed cuts in seven tournaments. In 2023, he’s cut just 13 of 23 tournaments and has three top 10s — a far cry from how he’s been since turning pro in 2009.
He hasn’t made much progress in 2024, qualifying in five of nine races and finishing in the top 10 just twice.
But once he makes the cut he plays well, finishing in the top 10 three times in his last five tournaments.
A revival appeared to be on the cards when he tied for 12th at Valspar, followed by a tie for seventh at the Texas Children’s Houston Open.
But he recently missed the cut at the Valero Texas Open after shooting a first-round 76, ruining his chance to play on the weekend.
With a lack of stars this week, the hope is he can focus on being the golfer others chase, rather than the golfer chasing others.

Corales Puntacana Championship Longshot Bet
When bettors are looking for the potential big win, they should think of someone like Ben Martin.
Martin, has one win on the PGA Tour.
But it’s been a while now.
He won the 2014 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas and is still trying to find that winning secret to win it again.
In 2024, he missed the cut six of nine times.
The good news is that in his final tournament earlier this month, the Valero Texas Open, he bounced back to finish tied for seventh.
Maybe that’s the exception, and maybe he finds something in his game and is ready to compete for a second title.

Corales Puntacana Championship Prop Picks
Picking winners in these off-field events is no doubt difficult, so let’s be a bit cautious and try to pick the top five and top 20 finishers.
For prop bets, we’ll look at DraftKings.
As for a top-five pick, I would look at Daniel Berger at +850.
Berger is still trying to come back from a back injury that sidelined him for months. Since his return, he has qualified three of seven times in 2024 with a best finish of tied for 28th. Berger is one of the big names competing in the tournament, so we expect things to improve this week.
In the top 20 pick, I would consider Scott Piercy at +450 as a real long shot.
He will play just two times in 2024, making the cut once (a tie for 42nd in Puerto Rico), but he will need to get started right away to get back to the form that helped him win four PGA Tour tournaments.
This week just might be that week.
