Oh no, Punta Cana may be smelling trouble, and not just because of the turmoil that neighboring Haiti is going through.
The area’s dazzling beaches and a variety of new luxury resorts are planned, giving Americans even more reason to visit here than other super-popular beach destinations.

Already, more travelers are turning their attention to Central America, with countries like El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala becoming increasingly popular.
But don’t forget Costa Rica.
Long known as a quiet, laid-back getaway and a surfer’s paradise, Costa Rica’s Gold Coast (Guanacaste) is actually becoming even more golden in the luxury sense.
One of Central America’s most famous countries is poised to transform into a new tourist hotspot as the next luxury beach paradise with an incredible new hotel on the horizon.
Costa Rica’s sleeping beaches are waking up

It’s really boring to talk about the COVID pandemic these days, but during a time of global chaos, Costa Rica was a refuge for people looking for a comfortable place to escape to.
It’s probably fair to say that many didn’t leave, and if they did, Guanacaste left a lasting mark and is surely even more fascinating now.
Before it becomes a luxury beach resort later this year, it’s important to understand Guanacaste’s natural charm, lest the glitz and glamour of new hotels overshadow what makes this place so special.
Costa Rica is known for its stunning natural scenery, incredibly beautiful beaches, and laid-back Pura Vida lifestyle, which draws a wide variety of tourists to the country.

Guanacaste in particular offers a unique combination of quiet beach towns and unspoiled nature that’s not to be missed.
The Gold Coast has been a magnet for visitors in recent years and is already quite the trendy destination, with new boutique hotels, cafes and yoga studios opening.
Now, with 18 new properties scheduled to open by 2025, hopefully some of the authenticity will remain.
However, this isn’t a big concern as Guanacaste is a large area of the country and there are already several all-inclusive resorts there, including Margaritaville, Riu, and Secrets.
The hotel is scheduled to open in 2024

With hostels, Airbnb, boutique hotels and a selection of high-end hotels, it’s clear that there is a huge room in the market for more luxurious stays – and boy, is Guanacaste making the most of it!
With 16 hotels scheduled to open in 2025, two iconic brands are set to open this year: Mark your calendar for the openings of the Ritz-Carlton and Waldorf hotels if you’re looking to level up your stay in Costa Rica’s most scenic region.
Necajuy, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve Hotel is not yet ready to accept reservations, but travelers ready to splurge can get a sneak peek at what’s to come on the official website.

There’s also no official opening date yet, but the best guess is “late 2024,” as stated in a separate announcement. What’s certain is that the location is unbeatable, tucked away in a beautiful part of the Papagayo Peninsula.
Set to open in November 2024, Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique is currently accepting reservations from February 2025 onwards for stunning rooms with a variety of layouts, from ocean views to private plunge pools.
While not all details about either hotel have been released, one thing is for sure: travelers will be able to indulge in the finer things in life while enjoying pure bliss and stylish exclusivity.
Until 2025… and beyond!

Costa Rica is one of the easiest countries to get to in Central America, and you can bet that soon there will be more direct flights to Guanacaste rather than San Jose.
Travelers have a lot to look forward to when visiting this vibrant and diverse destination, and more than a dozen new hotels are certainly at the top of the list.
This is a long-term vision for Guanacaste and as the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” and the same is true for the Gold Coast.
Guanacaste’s beautiful beach towns and lush jungle will continue to attract surfers and walkers, but the paradise is set to attract even more luxury travelers with the opening of highly anticipated resorts, including Six Senses, due to open in 2025.
