Caribbean Wave has closed its Lancaster City restaurant after nearly seven years of serving traditional Jamaican cuisine.
Caribbean Wave, a small restaurant at 701 E. Chestnut St. that opened in November 2017, served jerk chicken and curry chicken, jerk catfish and jerk shrimp.
Caribbean Wave is owned by Damaine “Wolf” Cavallo, who founded it with the help of Rakish “Ziggy” Watson. Before opening the restaurant, the two grilled on the roadside.
Cavallo did not respond to questions about the reason for the restaurant’s closure. Cavallo said in a post on his Facebook page that he is leaving Lancaster to pursue other careers in music and cooking.
Before Caribbean Wave, the restaurant building at the corner of East Chestnut Street and North Franklin Street housed Rice and Rolls, a Filipino restaurant and grocery store. Last week, employees at the establishment said a new restaurant was expected to open there in the near future.
