You may not be familiar with Green Island. It is located in the western corner of Jamaica, just off the highway between Montego Bay and Negril. But two new resorts mean the area is likely to quickly attract tourist attention.
That’s the idea behind Jamaica’s two newest resorts, both under new brands in the destination. Princess Hotels and Resorts has 12 hotels in the Caribbean, including one in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and another on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. .
The new Princess Senses, The Mangrove and Princess Grand Jamaica, with a combined total of more than 1,000 rooms, are set to debut soon, with an official opening date of September 15, Caribbean Journal has learned.
So what do you need to know about them?
Princess Senses The Mangrove is an all-inclusive, adults-only property. All rooms are either suites (with ocean views or swim-out options) or a collection of overwater villas with their own private pools. This will be joined by 14 restaurants and 15 bars and lounges.
As for Princess Grand, the resort is family-friendly, with a kids club for the little ones, a youth center, rental nanny service options, and numerous sports options. From 3 pools to 8 bars to 9 restaurants, you’ll find everything you need. Do you want to enjoy international cuisine? The culinary program includes multiple culinary approaches, from Mexican to Jamaican to Asian fusion cuisine. And yes, there is a water park.
What about costs?
Prices at Princess Grand start at approximately $505 for stays beginning September 15 (if booked directly). This will get you a Princess Junior Suite with an all-inclusive plan.
Starting today, rates at the adults-only resort will start at $579 per night. It is a “Deluxe Junior Suite”. Swim-out rooms are available for $661 per night and are always an amenity worth splurging on.
The debut of the new Princess Resort marks Jamaica’s first major opening of the year, with several more hotel rooms planned for the island (in various stages of development).
The most anticipated of the group is arguably the first UNICO resort in the English-speaking Caribbean, following Uber’s popular Riviera Maya resort. However, the opening date of that resort is still unknown.
