PUNTA CANA – After a four-and-a-half-year hiatus, Aerolíneas Argentinas has resumed flights between Córdoba, Argentina, and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, a popular resort destination for Argentinians. The inaugural flight (AR1326), operated by a Boeing 737 MAX (LV-GVD), landed at Punta Cana International Airport on September 13 at 8:38 p.m.
The new route will offer connections from Córdoba to various Argentine cities, including Neuquén, Comodoro Rivadavia and Mar del Plata, providing new travel options to Argentina’s interior. Passengers will start and finish their journey in Aeroparque, but will be required to re-check in and complete immigration procedures in Punta Cana.
The flight details are as follows:
From Cordoba to Punta Cana: AR1326, departure at 14:00, arrival at 20:50 (Friday and Saturday) From Punta Cana to Cordoba: AR1327, departure at 22:05, arrival at 07:00 (Friday and Saturday)
The route will complement the existing four weekly flights from Buenos Aires/Ezeiza, adding 2,176 seats per week. It indirectly competes with Arajet, which offers daily flights to Santo Domingo, but will soon be replaced by a direct flight from Punta Cana.
For the 2024/25 summer season, Aerolíneas Argentinas will increase its flights to Córdoba from two to four times a week, and to Buenos Aires from four to six times a week. New direct flights will also be launched from Punta Cana to Rosario and Tucumán.
Punta Cana is Aerolíneas Argentinas’ main destination, with a load factor of 92% and an expected number of passengers carried of 78,030 in 2023. Argentina is the Dominican Republic’s second largest source of tourists in South America and the fourth largest in the world. The resumption of flights to and from Córdoba is expected to increase passenger numbers and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
