Although the film wasn’t necessarily the most meaningful, Allajette’s message regarding its initial success was clear. “We are pleased with how Alajet is performing in Canada and all the markets we serve, and the numbers going forward look very good,” Luna said.
“It has already sold more than 125,000 tickets for just three flights a week in Canada,” he added. “The airline plans to end the year with about 1.3 million passengers. That’s a very good number for a young airline.”
The biggest news to note is that the route will be partially changed from November 1st. “We are opening a new location in Punta Cana, so flights from Toronto and Montreal will go to Punta Cana.If you would like to access Santo Domingo, it is a two-hour bus ride directly from Punta Cana Airport. We found that more than 80% of passengers from Canada go to Punta Cana and take the bus from Santo Domingo.”
Arajet currently has 10 aircraft in its fleet, the latest of which was received two months ago. Five more units are scheduled to arrive next year. The company is currently working hard to add the US as a new destination next year.
In the future, Arajet would like to expand to Vancouver and Calgary, but this is a long-term goal. Alajet does not pay commissions, but Luna said some travel agencies have contracts with Alajet.
As Arajet works to build a hub in the DR, Luna said, “Half of the passengers from Canada don’t go to the DR, they go to Brazil, Argentina, the Caribbean islands. We also have flights all over South America and the Caribbean. It has been a huge success, flying many passengers from the Maritime States to Canada.
“We aim to provide world-class service at the lowest possible prices. Our flights have an excellent record of arriving on time, and we also have the newest fleet in the Americas. We are backed by Bain Capital, so passengers can book with confidence,” Luna concluded. And that’s rap.
