Gary Lawrence, editor of Profession Voyages (part of the Travelweek Group), contacted Club Med for an update and received this statement.
“Following the September 12th fire at Club Med Punta Cana, we have adjusted our reopening date to November 9th after a thorough evaluation to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality for our guests.
“This period is to give us the time we need to ensure an exceptional experience for our customers once we reopen.
“Guests will once again be able to enjoy all the all-inclusive services that make Club Med Punta Cana the flagship resort for families and active couples in the Dominican Republic, including Club Med Kids Club ( 17 years and 4 months), Hispaniola and Indigo seaside restaurants, sports activities, a circus school, and even an adults-only Zen Oasis and 5-star Exclusive Collection space, all in the Dominican Republic. It takes place on one of the most beautiful palm-fringed beaches in the country, in an idyllic setting with stunning sea views.
“If you are considering a stay during this period, we would like to thank you for contacting customer service at 1-800-CLUB-MED as soon as possible so that we can provide you with an appropriate and customized solution.
“Our priorities remain our guests’ safety, comfort and enjoyment, and we look forward to welcoming them back to Club Med Punta Cana in November.”
