1. Hispaniola
Hispaniola is the main buffet restaurant. It’s open-air and right on the water, so you can enjoy your meal while listening to the waves splashing and taking in the stunning views. Peruse the cheese, fruit, pasta, vegan and Caribbean stations and enjoy your meal on the beachfront terrace.
2. Samana
Samana is indoor, air-conditioned and located next to Rotonde and the main bar, where most of the evening’s entertainment takes place. Samana appears to offer the same international buffet as Hispaniola, but with the addition of a soft serve ice cream machine.
3. Indigo
Indigo is open for table service breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Dinner is by reservation only and focuses on seafood.
For breakfast, we tried the Dominican breakfast, which consisted of two fried eggs, mashed plantains, fried cheese, and salami. For lunch, there is a salad bar where you choose your item and give it a toss.
My daughter and I both enjoyed the grilled paprika chicken. Snacks include burgers, hot dogs, tacos, fried fish sandwiches, and fresh fruit plates. Indigo serves dinner with buttered bread and flavorful salt. We had shrimp and octopus with a lovely coriander aioli and truffle mashed potatoes.
Overall impressions of Club Med Punta Cana restaurant
The buffet offers so many tempting choices that you can’t help but try them all. One night we enjoyed pad thai and satay skewers and another night we enjoyed chicken curry. At the Dominican station, we had the pleasure of trying traditional dishes such as sancocho stew with white rice and avocado. My daughter didn’t have enough tropical fruit. Sweet and juicy mangoes are incomparable to what we can get back home. There is a large refrigerated cheese section, perhaps reflecting Club Med’s French heritage.
At breakfast, my daughter’s eyes nearly popped out when she saw the giant Nutella dispenser. She topped the crepe with fruit and Nutella and enjoyed her own version of heaven. There’s also an omelet station, hash browns, bacon, sausage, croissants, smoothies, acai bowls, and more to get your day off to a delicious start.
It’s impossible to resist the dessert station. A case full of ice cream and sorbet flavors makes for a great treat on a warm night. They have beautiful pastries, tempting cakes, flans, and cookies. When I ate the milk cake topped with marshmallow cream, my eyes rolled in my head. My daughter spotted a chunk of gluten-free almond oats and went back for seconds.
