PUNTA CANA – The Director of the National Institute of Transportation and Land Transport (Intrant), Milton Teofilo Morrison, met with the Association of Development and Builders of La Altagracia (Adecla) to discuss the transportation issues of construction workers in the fast-growing Belón-Punta Cana region. The meeting focused on finding solutions to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility, a major problem in the region.
Morrison stressed the need for Intl., the transport department and local developers to work together to set up a working group to develop a strategy within the framework of Act 63-17. Adekura chairman Christian Medina acknowledged the transport challenges residents face daily but expressed optimism about possible improvements, suggesting that larger buses and more efficient routes could help ease congestion.
The rapid development of Belón Punta Cana has led to increased traffic on roads such as Barceló Street and the Belón-Punta Cana Freeway. The area suffers from heavy congestion, especially during rush hour, as buses and other vehicles block the narrow roads. The meeting marked the launch of a plan to improve transportation for workers and ease traffic in the area.
