A new restaurant serving a variety of Latin American cuisine has opened in Lancaster City.
Punta Cana is a small restaurant located at 701 E. Chestnut St., the former home of Caribbean Wave, which closed in July. Punta Cana offers a cafeteria-style menu of rice and bean dishes, as well as meat and seafood entrees.
Punta Cana is owned by Gabriel Pinares and his uncle Junior Castro, who previously owned Punta Cana Restaurant in Mountville. Punta Cana will serve a combination of Puerto Rican, Dominican and Mexican cuisine, Pinares said.
Before Caribbean Wave, the building at the corner of East Chestnut Street and North Franklin Street housed Rice and Rolls, a Filipino restaurant and grocery store.
