Live Scoring: Devil’s Elbow Invitational Mid-Amateur
The 4th annual Devil’s Elbow opens on Thursday, November 7th at the Punta Cana Resort & Club in the Dominican Republic. The Mid-Am event, which began in 2021, has been slowly growing and attracting more talent as the field expands in size.
What makes this event quite unique is that it offers mid-amateur golfers the opportunity to compete on the PGA Tour. The winner of the 54-hole stroke play event will receive an invitation to the Corales Punta Cana Championship in March 2024. The Corrales course will be the site of both the Devil’s Elbow and Corrales Punta Cana Championships from April 17-20, 2025.
There will also be a senior division, and the winner will be given the right to compete in the 2025 PGA Tour Corrales Pro-Am.
Why did the tournament have such a unique name? Nos. 16, 17, and 18 on the Corrales course are called “Devil’s Elbow,” hence the name of the event . This three-hole stretch offers great views and, as the name suggests, a tough finish. The 16th is a 416 yard par 4, the 17th is a 214 yard par 3, and the 18th is a 501 yard par 4.
Tournament organizer and one of the founders, Eric Morales, hopes the tournament will stand out not only in terms of qualification to the PGA Tour, but also in terms of the quality of the players that week.
