Not Punta Cana. Not Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo. In fact, it’s one of the Caribbean’s hottest destinations you’ve never heard of. Miches, a beach-filled area of the Dominican Republic on Samana Bay, has quietly become one of the hubs of new hotel development in the area.
Now, Marriott, the fastest growing all-inclusive brand in the Caribbean, has officially entered the market. Marriott just debuted its new Sunrise Miches Beach Resort.
The newest All Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy is located about an hour from Punta Cana and has just under 400 rooms.
So what else do you need to know about it?
This property is a renovated former Temptation Resort in Miches. There are two pools, a spa, a fitness center, and a mix of colorful, smartly designed rooms, including a collection of swim-up rooms. (We almost always recommend splurging on a swim-up option; it’s always worth it, no matter where you stay).
How about food?
There are five dining concepts, ranging from Asian-inspired Spice to international buffet Coral Kitchen to cafe Sweet Corner.
But the biggest star is undoubtedly the beach, nestled between mountains, palm trees and turquoise blues, and one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in a country full of beautiful beaches.
This is Almare’s second major opening in a month, having just made its debut at Marriott’s all-inclusive collection, Isla Mujeres.
Marriott currently has a total of eight all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic, with another W Punta Cana in the works.
Miches itself continues to see new hotel growth, from Club Med, which began the area’s growth in 2019, to the soon-to-be-debuted Hilton Resort.

So, how much does it cost?
As part of the opening, the new Sunrise Mitches is offering special rates starting at $339 per night for standard king rooms with garden views. For a swim-up “grand duplex,” the rate will be $1,199 per night.
At $519, the Grand Junior might be your best deal, with amenities like a large Jacuzzi tub in the center of the room.
