Punta Cana – The 16th edition of the Punta Cana Carnival took place in the village of Boulevard Village in November on February 22nd, attracting hundreds of local and international visitors. The event, hosted by the Punta Cana Group, featured a vibrant mix of music, culture and art from national and international performers. The festival began with the Corner Ceremony of King Momo, the title awarded to two Olympic gold medalist Felix Sanchez, who was honoured for his contributions to Dominican sports. The celebration continued with a grand parade featuring over 1,500 performers from 54 carnival groups and various Dominican provinces.
The event provided live music, food trucks and entertainment to participants in a safe, family-friendly environment with viewing from 20 platforms and 10 free access stands. Sustainability has been a key focus this year, with initiatives such as waste recycling stations, reusable cups and biodegradable disposable. For the first time, the Craft Bazaar was introduced and dedicated promotional items were offered. Sponsored by major Dominican brands, the Carnival has strengthened its commitment to promoting local culture and responsible tourism.
A standout feature is Las Musa de Punta Cana, a bandage that celebrates the country’s rich biodiversity by showing off costumes inspired by Dominican fruits such as pineapple, coconut and mango. Leading by women from the Punta Cana community, this tradition continues to emphasize national identity through creative and colorful themes. The Punta Cana Carnival has once again proven to be a cultural and artistic highlight, combining tradition with modern sustainability efforts.
