White sandy beach. Sand toe bar. Fresh fish and meringue. Punta Cana is already the center of the most visited destinations in the entire Caribbean, and now the crown jewel of the Dominican Republic is receiving even greater boost from American Airlines.
The airline has announced plans to launch four new routes from US cities to the famous that roofed airport in Punta Cana.
The Americans are adding weekly flights from Indianapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh and Low Leaderlam, airline spokesmen confirmed by the Caribbean Journal.
Each route will fly on Saturday and will all be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft.
The new route means that Americans will fly to Bavaro Beach from 11 different source cities in America, and the United States will become a clear leader in their trip to Punta Cana.
Jose Maria Girardo, the managing director of Americans in the area, said that when new routes begin, it means up to 20 peak day flights.
Whether it’s in places like Minneapolis, Detroit, Austin, or cities like Raleigh Durham or Nashville, it’s a sign that major airlines are focusing on emerging Caribbean cities.
Are you planning a vacation to Punta Cana? The best way to reach your destination is perhaps one of the area’s most popular accommodations in Punta Cana (if you’re looking for luxury, head to an establishment like Eden Roc at Tony Enclave in Cap Cana).
So where do you stay? We have long loved Lopesan Costa Bavaro, the first Caribbean belan property of Europe’s top hotel operators.
What should you do in Punta Cana? We always recommend going out to a fantastic beach bar called Jeri’s (home to some of the best seafood in the nation), or try out the Corales or Punta Espada Golf Course (Corales hosts its annual PGA Tour tournament that returned in April). Of course, all Punta Cana subscribers are filled with things that the public should do. As the comprehensive concept is becoming more popular, many such resorts have become premium for programming with a wealth of classes, activities and entertainment all day long. For example, in Lopesan, you can spend an afternoon at the water park, then take a stroll down the main streets and stroll through the long, winding promenade with shops and cafes, and designs of the luxury shopping boulevard. It’s a very cool idea.
There is also New Zelpunta Cana, a resort created through the partnership between Melia and tennis legend Rafael Nadal. This has a suite that has just opened the door and starts at $1,134 for a 4-night stay.
The cost of a new AA flight is not yet clear as we can’t book yet, but we’re hoping for something in the range of $3-500 based on current fares to Punta Cana from other cities.
