The incident occurred after an American Airlines jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles after passengers complained of an odor that filled the cabin and made them feel sick.
The plane took off from Los Angeles International Airport at 5 p.m. local time on October 14th and was heading to JFK International Airport in New York, but just a few minutes into the flight, a report of a “strong odor” was reported.
Several passengers complained of feeling sick from the smoke that entered the plane.
Meanwhile, the pilots resorted to donning oxygen masks after reporting to the control tower that they smelled or tasted “something” in the cockpit.

The twin jet Airbus A32 looped back to LAX, where it made an emergency landing.
Seven passengers who remained nauseous were seen by medical staff, but none were taken to hospital, ABC7 News reported.
The Los Angeles Fire Department, which arrived at the scene to inspect the aircraft, reported no hazards, and the aircraft was cleared to take off on another flight several hours later.
“American Airlines Flight 274 from Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (JFK) returned to LAX shortly after takeoff due to reports of an unusual odor on board,” an American Airlines spokesperson said.
“The plane landed safely and the aircraft has been taken out of service for inspection by our maintenance team. We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
