One of the Caribbean’s premier golf destinations, Punta Cana is home to some of the world’s best courses, including Jack Nicklaus’ Punta Espada and Colales, which has hosted an annual PGA Tour event since 2018.
Currently, the Corales Punta Cana Championship continues following the announcement of an agreement to continue the tour at this course until at least 2027.
It is one of only two PGA Tour events held on the Caribbean island, along with the Puerto Rico Open.
“We are pleased to renew our relationship with Grupo Punta Cana and the Corales Punta Cana Championship, which is the first PGA Tour event in the Dominican Republic and plays an important role in promoting local development,” John Norris, PGA Tour senior vice president of tournament business, said in a release. “The PGA Tour has incredible momentum thanks to support from partners like Grupo Puntacana, and we are committed to sharing that energy with our passionate fans around the world.”
Corrales was designed by Tom Fazio. It first opened in 2010.
Punta Cana Resort also has a sister course, La Cana Golf Course.
Of course, if you’re planning a golf trip to the country, there’s still one resort that stands out. This is Casa de Campo.
