About 60 miles from Punta Cana, Miches is a less tourist town on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, with lush natural reserves and white sand beaches. This summer we welcome the first new comprehensive resort in the country of the Hilton Curio Collection.
The Curio Collection by Hilton, Semi Miches Punta Cana All Inclusive Resort, scheduled to open in June, will feature 500 rooms, suites and bungalows, including 123 ground level rooms with private plunge pools. Other highlights of the resort include four swimming pools, four water slides, a vast beach with cabanas and a spa that draws inspiration from the Taino culture, once the most populous indigenous people of the Caribbean.

“The area remains unexposed to popular tourism, making it an ideal location for travelers looking for a calm, authentic, and luxury escape,” Manuela Farlinger, the hotel’s general manager, told Travel + Leisure. “We are extremely excited to immerse ourselves in the thoughtfully curated Taino experience from noble cuisine featuring locally inspired dishes, ranging from world-class wellness programs. The oceanfront pool, beachfront bungalows and isolated settings create an unparalleled feeling.”
Dining options are diverse, with six different culinary experiences including Thai spots, a Taino restaurant serving indigenous Caribbean cuisine, and a beach grill with live fire dishes and outdoor dining. The six bars and lounges range from sports bars to pools and swim-up bars, with Dominican-inspired mixology classes available for those looking for a more hands-on experience.
The youngest guests can visit Coki Cove Kids’ Club to create recyclable binoculars for marine conservation workshops, kids’ bakeries and bird watching. For older children, Palmchat Teens’ Club has a cinema and a virtual reality escape room. Many family-friendly activities are also offered, including pickle balls and paddle ball courts and a pool complex with water slides.
In terms of wellness, the fitness center offers yoga and other classes, and the 5,000-square-foot spa features 11 treatment rooms and a hydrotherapy circuit that includes cold and hot plunges.
The sustainability initiative is central to the spirit of the property. “Our resorts integrate environmentally friendly design elements, such as energy-efficient infrastructure and water conservation initiatives,” says Fahringe. “In addition, our involvement in beach and turtle conservation efforts and partnerships with conservation programs will leave Michess’ natural beauty untouched for future generations.”
