After completing a $115 million renovation in late 2024 and rebranding from Hyatt Regency to Grand Hyatt, the resort stakes its claim to the pinnacle of luxury resorts in Greater Phoenix. Located on the spacious 560-acre Gainey Ranch, an upscale residential and recreational enclave, the area is surrounded by three nine-hole golf courses and upscale boutique shops and restaurants.
Hotel
The refreshed lobby is bright and welcoming, featuring seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, dramatic views of the McDowell Mountains, and colors and textures that reflect the Sonoran Desert. The hotel features an impressive 2.5-acre outdoor pool, nine additional pools, a sandy beach, and a three-story waterslide.
The hotel’s design is inspired by the architectural style of Frank Lloyd Wright and the principles of organic architecture. He was known as the “godfather of organic architecture” for his philosophy that architecture should be in harmony with humans and their environment. The hotel has several gardens that are particularly popular for weddings and events, including the Desert Garden and Lawn Court.
room

The hotel has a total of 496 rooms, suites, and casitas, all decorated in bright, muted colors to avoid distracting from the stunning canvas provided by the outdoor views. Mountain view rooms are especially popular as they offer dramatic views of the McDowell Mountains. At the top is the 1,200 square foot immaculately appointed Presidential Suite. There is a dining table that seats 6 people in case you want to entertain friends or colleagues, and there is a separate bedroom, living room, dining room, and wet bar.
If you’re looking for a spacious casita, look no further than Gainey House, which sleeps up to 10 people and spans 2,400 square feet. The private patio, which features a grill and beautiful views of the nearby lake, is especially popular. All guests receive exclusive Balmain amenities, plush robes and slippers.
Eating and drinking

Grand Hyatt has redesigned its dining options to accommodate a variety of needs. For a grab-and-go experience, try Canyon Market. Add your daily caffeine intake and order avocado on toast with minimal wait time. If you’re looking for a sit-down breakfast, Mesa Centrale is the place to go. We offer hearty, comforting dishes like bread pudding and French toast, as well as lighter, healthier options like overnight oats with chia.
For dinner, we highly recommend Tiki Taka, which offers a lively menu that fuses Spanish tapas with Japanese cuisine. Although this hotel is on the edge of the Sonoran Desert, it serves fresh raw fish, including those served in chirashi bowls. The yakitori skewers are made with juicy and sweet scallops imported from Hokkaido. If you’re looking for Italian-American cuisine, you’ll find it at La Zozzona.
spa and wellness

Spa Avania takes particular pride in offering personalized treatments that meet your bespoke needs. We also offer pregnancy massages specifically for pregnant women and CBD trigger point therapy to reduce pain. We also offer couples massages, served side-by-side in private couples suites. We also use ingredients from our natural environment, such as the cactus used in our Desert Essence wraps.
For those who prefer touchless service, there is also a Himalayan Salt Room. The salt particles that reach your lungs are perfect for absorbing bacteria and pollutants. We also offer spa wave therapy, which uses vibrational waves to promote relaxation and chakra balancing.

Scottsdale Fashion Square is just over a 10-minute drive away. It is the largest shopping mall in Arizona and one of the largest in the United States. This mall features top-notch stores you won’t find anywhere else in Arizona. The mall also has an immersive art gallery, Wonderspace. There are installations that appeal to all age groups, from 8 to 80 years old. You can have the robot draw a self-portrait for you.
“Blooms” is another installation worth exploring. It includes 3D-printed sculptures that animate when rotated under strobe lights, forming mesmerizing pieces that are hard to ignore.
