The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with Alajet Airlines, announced a new nonstop route between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Punta Cana International Airport, further strengthening the Dominican Republic’s position as a leading tourist destination in the Caribbean region. The new service will be operated by Alajet, the Dominican Republic’s flagship airline, and will begin on November 15, 2025 with three flights per week. Departures from Punta Cana operate on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and departures from Chicago O’Hare operate on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Mondays. This new route will add more than 2,200 weekly seats between the two cities and position Chicago as a key U.S. hub for both tourism and business travel to the Dominican Republic.
The announcement also marks the official launch of the United States’ new international promotional campaign, “Dominicana Te Songri” (Dominicana Smiles at You), reflecting the joy, warmth and sincerity of the Dominican people, considered the true essence of the country’s tourism success.
This initiative underscores the Dominican Republic’s commitment to expanding international connections, strengthening cultural exchanges, and promoting economic growth through tourism.
