Spain – During the International Tourism Expo 2026 (FITUR), Grupo Punta Cana announced a strategic partnership with the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Football (Concacaf) aimed at strengthening sports tourism in Punta Cana and throughout the Dominican Republic.
The project includes the development of a modern sports complex with six training fields, a mini-stadium, an indoor pavilion, two beach soccer fields, a gym and additional facilities designed to host professional teams and international sporting events. Grupo Punta Cana President Frank Elias Rainieri emphasized that the partnership with Concacaf, one of FIFA’s six continental confederations, will significantly increase the country’s sports tourism and international visibility.
Paola Rainieri, Chief Marketing Officer of Grupo Punta Cana, emphasized that sport plays an important role in promoting tourism, economic growth and global reputation through high-profile events. She cited the Corales Punta Cana Championship PGA Tour event, which is renewed through 2027, as a prime example. The tournament features a US$4 million prize purse, the largest in Dominican sporting history, attracts the world’s top players, generates global media exposure and positions Punta Cana as one of the Caribbean’s premier golf destinations.
Grupo Punta Cana is also expanding its sports tourism offerings through events such as Punta Cana Resort Padel Week and the International Tennis Exhibition at the Oscar de la Renta Tennis Center, reinforcing its strategy to integrate world-class sporting events into the country’s tourism experience.
